The lime manufacturing process requires a substantial amount of energy to thermally decompose limestone rock in high-temperature kilns. As a leading lime producer, we are keenly aware of our responsibility to minimise our carbon footprint.
We dedicate substantial resources to implementing our carbon reduction roadmap. By sharing best practices and mastering the challenges of fuel flexibility, energy efficiency, and low-carbon intensity, we can reduce our fuel footprint substantially to what is technically and economically feasible today. We are also investing in the development of new technologies to lead and innovate in carbon reduction approaches.
Increasing the share of biomass and renewable fuels in our global energy portfolio is key if we want to reach our target and reduce our fuel-related carbon emissions. We make significant investments in our plants to ensure fuel flexibility and transition to biomass wherever it is available.
Achieving this ambition in such a short time frame is our contribution to improving the carbon footprint down the value chain.
