Dolomite, CaCO3.MgCO3, (calcium magnesium carbonate), is also called, dolomitic limestone, magnesian limestone or dolostone. It is the result of a partial or full dolomitization of calcium carbonate.
Dolomite is quarried, crushed and ground to the appropriate fractions. Some applications of dolomite include agriculture, refractories, because of its magnesium content, and primarily in the paint and plastics industries, as a filler.
